Delivery Volunteer

Volunteer activity description

Friendly Neighbour Hotline is a volunteer organization that began delivering groceries to low-income seniors in response to COVID19. We are looking for delivery volunteers in the Toronto area who are willing to shop for and deliver groceries to seniors. Volunteers are notified of delivery requests by email, and there is no minimum number of deliveries required. A car is not necessary, as deliveries will be assigned based on your available mode of transportation.

Due to the need for physical distancing, many seniors face significant challenges in obtaining daily necessities and other essentials. The reality of long lineups at some stores causes great inconvenience for frail and vulnerable seniors and further increases their risk of contracting COVID-19. Many seniors, especially those with low income, are unable to use digital services, do not have internet access, or cannot afford additional delivery fees.

In light of this, we are organizing this volunteer initiative to help make life more convenient for seniors. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us!

Nowadays, college applications increasingly emphasize the relevant social practice activities that students participate in and pay attention to students' contributions to the community. Especially, highly competitive majors will pay more attention to whether students actively participate in social activities. However, there are very few volunteer activities during the epidemic. If you can find volunteer opportunities online, you will have a great advantage in applying for colleges in the future. After all, applicants with outstanding volunteer experience will stand out from the crowd and make admissions officers. A bright.

I hope the above information will be helpful for students to apply for volunteers. The editor will regularly push more good volunteer opportunities for you, don't miss it!
